High Heels Get Low

We Remotely Fashion females have a love-hate relationship with most heels. We love how heels make our legs more unicorn-like, because we are trying in vain to look like human-versions of The Last Unicorn. On the other hand, we are admittedly clumsy, clutzy and easily lost (meaning we end up walking way more than we planned). Fortunately the fashion gods have smized upon us and low heels were a runway regular for Spring 2013 (Marc Jacobs, Saint Laurent, and Nicholas Kirkwood, to name a few).

But I needed to see my patron saint Alexa Chung rocking her YSL Ingenue pumps in order to quell my trepidation. We think the key to keeping this style from going matronly is to look for dainty ankle straps as well as futuristic colors and textures. Metallics aren't just for F/W, we think silver or rose gold would pair perfectly with a pastel-colored outfit. Basic black is also sure to look very classy and feminine and would look lovely with a bodycon midi-dress or a pair of tailored trousers. From the window to the wall, we are about to get low! March 4th was my bff Julia's birthday and as kismet (or persuasion) would have it, I was back in the US to celebrate. Julia and I ventured up north to the city that never sleeps and the other key player in our bff trio, Liz, was our gracious host. The three of us first visited the Fashion Institute of Technology's museum where the Shoe Obsession and Fashion & Technology exhbitions were on display. It was hard not to drool at the designer shoe-candy and cringe at some of the towering heel heights. And by far, the most fascinating display was the clothing made purely of harvested sheets of bacteria (a bit of shudder-inducing Buffalo Bill moment). Makes you wonder what fashion will be like 50 years from now... I'm still hoping that will look like some sort of holographic Jetsons and Marie Antoinette mash-up.

My point of fashion (FRUITS magazine, anyone?) was my high contrast neon pink and neon orange color collar combination. Say that five times fast.

The rest of the weekend was filled with delicious food (mocha-rubbed duck, Laduree macarons, & scrumptious Doughnut Plant baked goods), epic Karaoke, some light shopping, a brief photo shoot (see above) and a lot of obnoxiously loud laughter. I miss those girls already!

The holidays are behind us and for us this always means a bit of post-reinforcement pause -- we lose some interest in shopping and spending because: A.) We are skint/broke. B.) The shops are filled with those awkward in-between seasons clothing items that are tempting but not immediately wearable. I see you, interesting cut-out spring dress, but I can't have you... not yet. 

I'm usually more likely to be buying a replacement set of gloves that have fallen to the wayside at this time of year. But, this where the internet comes in! I can virtually stalk purchases for S/S or browse through F/W sales while remaining cozy and warm at home. The fashion endorphins are still released. 

Recently, Anya Sarre, one of Hollywood�s most influential trendsetters, introduced us to an up and coming online fashion store, ShoeDazzle. A nationally recognized celebrity stylist, Sarre is known for her impeccable eye and ability to tie any look together with the perfect accessory. Named �Best Television Fashion Stylist� for her appearances on Entertainment Tonight, The Insider and countless other media outlets, Sarre is the go-to fashion expert for Hollywood�s biggest celebrities. Of course we had to check out her recommendation!

Rachel Zoe is also now associated stylist for ShoeDazzle which makes the personalized stylist selections all the more exciting.
